Former New Earswick All Black Jack Sadler has this year been given a squad number by Super League club Castleford Tigers.

Having made his Super League bow last season Jack has been joined the first team squad on a more regular basis and sees New Earswick All Blacks as a key part of his development to becoming a potential Super League star.

“NEAB really helped me get to where I am today, it was the ideal place to start my rugby league journey.” Jack Stated.

Jack, who played football at the time, started his love for rugby league when he joined in with the Under 9s, as he used to come watch his dad coach an older age group down at White Rose Ave:

“I loved it straight away and the support i had from parents, coaches and club members as well as being made welcome every time i come back down really makes it the club it is today and a proud family club and one i can really say i am proud to have come from”

Jacks dad, Trev a former open age player with the All Blacks reminisces “Jack started on the wing but took up the half back spot when the regular one got injured and he just grew from there.”

Jack picked up numerous man of the match awards and started receiving very complimentary comments from his and opposition coaches: “ Jack was just a natural and got so into the sport that he would study the game on Sky, always trying to better himself, concentrating on his favourite players at the time Rangi Chase, Shaun Johnson and Jonathon Thurston and would practice their skills over and over.”

Trev is full of praise of the club he coached at, but from a parents point of view he had to say “Looking back at the years spent at the club, we struggled as a team on the field for results, but off it the lads stuck together and were a proper unit and this helped Jack learn further. We loved our time down at the club and would recommend that anyone looking to play rugby starts down at White Rose Avenue.”

Keep an eye out on our social media channels for Jacks development and hopefully we will see him in Super League on a regular basis soon.
